This article describes the necessary configuration settings of an ABB AC charging station to be connected to the be.ENERGISED backend.
Step by step guide
In case of complications regarding the OCPP connection of the charging station, please contact the ABB Support directly. |
ABB Installer
In the first step you need to work with the ABB Installer. You can find the link here.
To access, you must have a username and password. If you do not have these data yet, please contact ABB support. They will then create a web account and a company entry for you.
After logging in, you should see an entry for your company in the "Company Management" tab.
In the "Web Account" tab you will see your user data.
After logging in, you create an app account in the ABB interface. This is required for further configuration.
In the next step, go to the "OCPP Server Configuration" tab and then to the "Third Party Domain Configuration" item. Click on "Add a New Configuration".
The configuration window for the OCPP connection (OCPP server installation) now opens. We will go through the individual fields.
Third Party Name: Here you enter the name of the connection. You are free to name it as you wish.
Type: In this drop-down field, you can choose between wss:// (public connection) and ws:// (private connection), depending on the OCPP broker URL. More details in the next point.
URL: Please replace the value "INSTANCE" with your instance name. You can easily read your instance name in the link to the backend. Access to the backend: https://beispiel.beenergised.cloud/. Here you can read out the instance by taking the value AFTER "https://" and BEFORE ".beenergised.cloud/". In this example, your instance name would be "beispiel".
An overview of the URLs, depending on the connection type, can be found in this article.
A port should not be entered, the system does this automatically.
Protocol Type: OCPP
Protocol Version: ocpp16j
Password und Repeated Password: Details on where you can find your password for BasicAuth in be.ENERGISED can be read in the article on OCPP endpoints. You must enter the password here.
Certificate Upload: In some cases, it may happen that no certificate has been uploaded at the charging station and is therefore not available for selection here. In this case, you must upload a "DigiCert Global Root G2" certificate. You can do this in the "Certificate Management" tab via "Add a New Certificate".
In this context, we would like to point out that you are responsible for the validity and updating of the certificates yourself. Therefore, make sure that the certificates at your charging stations are always up-to-date.
The "DigiCert Global Root G2" certificate can be downloaded via this link.
Company: Here you select your "Company".
The "Chargepoint Identity" (unique ID for identifying your charging station in your be.ENERGISED instance) is always the serial number of the respective box and does not have to be defined by you separately. However, you still have the option to change the Chargepoint Identity in the TerraConfig app as long as you have set "Enable external access" to Yes (see below). Please note that the Chargepoint Identity must not contain spaces, special characters (e.g.: +*!#) and letters unknown in English (e.g.: ä, ö, ü, ß). Exception is the underscore (_), this can be used. Furthermore, the chargepoint identity must not exceed a maximum length of 45 characters. |
You have then completed the configuration in the ABB Installer. The further steps are performed in the TerraConfig app.
TerraConfig App
Download the app from the official ABB website. To do so, follow this link.
Log in with the access data created in the ABB Installer. A password will be sent to you by e-mail when you create the account.
Then connect your wallbox to your smartphone via Bluetooth.
For a "public" connection, connect the LAN cable to your charging station and go to the "Network" item in the Configuration area. Set the connection type to LAN. The same applies to a connection via WLAN, which can also be used for a "public" connection. In this case, set the network type to WLAN. With WLAN, you must first connect your smartphone to the Internet via WLAN and then the charging station by entering the WLAN password.
In the case of a "private" connection, use SIM cards from ChargePoint. In this case, select 4G and enter the corresponding APN data. The configuration data can be taken from the following article for the connection of the charging station.
In the following example, we show a "public" connection via WLAN.
Go back to the main menu and click on the "OCPP - Server" item in the Configuration section.
Next to "Locally saved server" click on the "+". The previously created OCPP server (configuration in ABB Installer) should then be available for download. Otherwise you can also find it via the search function.
Select the server and go to "Download". After that, select the OCPP server and go to "Next".
Set the "Enable external access" field to Yes. In the item "Change chargepoint name" you have the possibility to change the chargepoint identity. However, please observe the rules listed in the info box above. After that you can click on "Configure".
You have now also completed this configuration. In the main menu, the two icons for Bluetooth and LAN should now light up green and the charging station should have an active connection to the be.ENERGISED backend.
