This article describes the basic configurations and requirements of the be.ENERGISED instance to make charging stations accessible for Intercharge (Hubject). be.ENERGISED enables the connection of charging stations for electric vehicles to the roaming platform of Hubject and thus enables third parties a non-discriminatory access to your charging stations. The following article describes the necessary configuration steps to configure your charging stations for the usage with Intercharge.
To gain access to the Intercharge network, you have to have a valid access contract (subject to a charge) with Hubject. In addition, you must first request the activation of the Intercharge interface in be.ENERGISED via the ChargePoint be.ENERGISED customer support and then continue with the following steps. |
General Configuration
After the Intercharge interface has been set up by ChargePoint for your be.ENERGISED instance, you can continue with the configuration. Please note that several pre-settings are necessary in order to make your charging stations accessible for using the interface.
Due to the standardization of the charging station data to be transmitted, it is necessary that all charging stations in your instance are configured completely and correctly. Charging stations that do not have all the necessary configuration features are ignored when the synchronizing the charging station data with the Intercharge network and are therefore not available.
Please pay attention to finish the configuration (points 1 to 5) of the charging stations completely to make them available in the Intercharge network:
- charging connectors and EVSE IDs
- basic data including location and geo coordinates of the charging station
- marketing data (at least in German language!) and the driver’s hotline
- roaming characteristics of the charging station
- activate the charging station for use with the Intercharge Network.
The following paragraphs describe the basic configuration for the above functions in detail.
Charge point configuration
To use roaming capabilities in be.ENERGISED it is necessary to set the configuration of the charging statiaons in a way that only useable charge points for each vehicle are displayed. You must therefore assign the correct plug type, output power and the explicit EVSE ID to each charge point.
To configure the charging connections, navigate to Infrastructure/Charging stations/Station list and open the station data sheet of the charging station there. Now navigate to the tab named Charge points. In this tab, all charging connections identified for the charging station are listed.

Please check here whether the following properties (points 1 to 4) have been configured correctly for all connectors (charge points) of the station.
- The label is understandable for the EV-driver
- The connector type of the charge point is correctly defined
- An EVSE ID is assigned to the charge point
- A roaming charge point rate has been assigned
If data in this configuration does not meet your expectations, is incorrect or missing, you can open the configuration menu for the respective charging point by clicking on the pencil icon.

In the configuration menu, the charge point is named accordingly and the maximum output power of your connection (e.g. Type 2 AC 11 kW) is selected; this information is then displayed on Mobile Apps and map services.
In addition, you must assign the individual EVSE ID for each charge point. You find the ID on the QR Code sticker of each charge point! |
Please note that you can only use EVSE-IDs which are within your range. If you have any questions, please contact our ChargePoint be.ENERGISED support team.
Tariff configuration
Finally, a charge point rate (roaming) has to be assigned to this charge point. Charge point rates are charged to the respective roaming provider or the EV-driver for direct payment via the be.ENERGISED Community rates.
The COMMUNITY rates enable you to activate your stations for incoming roaming without additional contractual relationships via Hubject. In this case, all charging processes at your charging stations will be billed by ChargePoint, and you will receive a monthly credit for the tariffs you have selected.
Configuration of basic data
In order to publish the data of the charging station via interfaces, it is necessary to set the location data of the charging station in the system. This information is then automatically transmitted to roaming interfaces and is then available to external charging customers. You can configure the basic data using the station data sheet in the Edit/Basic Information menu.

Please also select a name for this charging station - this will be visible to the EV driver and should include an understandable and descriptive name. Regarding the address, you can enter it under "Enable manual editing". Longitude and latitude are set automatically after entering the address data.
The technician may receive error messages by e-mail. For this purpose, an e-mail address must be entered for the backend user. It is advisable to set up an e-mail address to which several people have access.
Configuration of the marketing information
In the Marketing tab, you must fill in the mandatory information that Intercharge requires. The marketing information can be entered in different languages - however, this must be entered at least in one language. Without this information charging stations will not be activated for roaming!

Fig. 4: Configuration of the customer hotline, contact persons and definition of the display status in portals
Please enter the local contact person for the station in the menu- this person will be displayed as the contact person in navigation systems. It is also necessary to enter the hotline number that end customers can call if they need help operating and using the charging station. Please enter the phone number in the format +49 555 1234567.
The correct display of the operating status of the station is guaranteed for applications directly connected to be.ENERGISED (e.g. cell phone app). This dynamic display may differ in some cases with third-party providers. This cannot be influenced by has-to-be.
Finally, configure the accessibility of the charging station and enter an explanatory description text for the charging station. This information is also publicly viewable and will be transmitted to navigation systems. Please also enter any restrictions on accessibility here, such as opening hours.
Configuration of Roaming Properties
To finally enable the charging station to use the roaming network, you must enter the necessary configurations on the charging station. These are settings of standardized access parameters and properties to ensure compatibility with all common roaming systems.
Navigate to Roaming/Common Settings and configure the parameters your Base Station has.
Please note that these configurations are necessary, and Intercharge requires at least one configuration in each section. If this data is incorrect or incomplete, the charging station will not be transmitted to the Intercharge network.
Configuration of the basic data of the roaming interfaces
Please go through the displayed list one by one and activate every option that applies to the respective charging station.

Here you have the possibility to provide information about your charging station to roaming partners. Please note that setting these items to YES, with one exception (please see below), has no effect regarding activation at the charging station. These fields are only used for information transfer.
ATTENTION: The exception to this is the "Deactivation of direct payment page" field. If you set this field to YES, it is not possible to charge at your charging station using direct payment via the Direct Payment Page. |
Activation of the charging station
After you have completed the charging station configurations described above, you can now unlock the charging station for use with the roaming interface. You have the option of individually enabling roaming interfaces for each charging station.
Please note, however, that each charging station must be activated individually to make it accessible for roaming. |

The station is unlocked by clicking on the switches in the respective network. As soon as it changes to green, the data from the charging station is prepared for distribution to the roaming network. This data is then transmitted to the Intercharge network in a daily automated comparison.
If a setting, as mentioned above, is not complete, an error message appears in red. |
