Background
One of the connection options for your charging station with the be.ENERGISED backend is the public connection. For this, the charging station must support BasicAuth. You can obtain more information about this from your hardware manufacturer.
The "privateauth" variant offers you the option of additionally protecting the connection between the backend and the charging station with a username and password. Your charging station must also support BasicAuth for this.
In these cases, you have to use a BasicAuth password, which you can create in be.ENERGISED. You can find out how to do this here.
Often the created passwords are less than 32 characters long. However, for KEBA x-series charging stations with software version 1.15. it is necessary to use a BasicAuth password with a length between 32 and 40 characters in hex format.
For this reason, it may be necessary to create another BasicAuth password for this application.
How to create a new BasicAuth password?
In be.ENERGISED, go to Settings/System Settings/OCPP Security Settings.
Here you can view your passwords and also add new BasicAuth passwords. Make sure that the new password contains between 32 and 40 characters and is created in hex format. The field "Is hex" remains on NO.
Other points to keep in mind:
- The password must always be created with an even number of characters (32, 34, 36, 38, 40).
- When connecting the charging station, it must be checked whether the hardware supports BasicAuth.
- The BasicAuth password entered in the charging station interface must match one of the passwords stored in be.ENERGISED.
- Do not change already existing passwords. This will cause charging stations that use this password to lose their connection.
If you do not find the item OCPP Security Settings under Settings/System settings, then the right for this user group has not yet been enabled.
To do so, go to User management/Groups/Overview and click on the Groups icon and then the Rights button for the relevant group. Under the tab Settings you will find the item OCPP Security Settings. Set this to YES and the right is then activated for the respective user group.
